Good fit? is a free app with no commercial activity: no ads, no subscription, no data sold.

Hosting

The app's pages are served by GitHub Pages: GitHub, Inc., 88 Colin P. Kelly Jr. Street, San Francisco, CA 94107, United States (github.com). GitHub only sees the pages being loaded, never what you do in them: the analysis runs in your browser.

Audience measurement (Umami) is hosted by Simon Victor on his own server (stats.pissits.com).

Your data and cookies

Nothing is sent. Your CV, the job ad, the letter, your application tracker and salary calculations are handled by your browser. Files (PDF, Word, photo) are read on the spot, and so is the reading of photos (OCR).

What stays on your device. Your application tracker (job, company, dates, status, contact, notes) is kept in your browser's local storage, and nowhere else, so you find it again when you come back. Your CV, the text of the offers, your letter and your interview preparation are not kept: they disappear when you close the page, unless you tick "Also keep my CV and offers on this device". The "Erase my data from this device" button at the bottom of the app deletes everything. A "Full backup" is a file that holds everything, CV included: store it like a personal document. When you open a backup, all its content is kept on the device (the box gets ticked). Your display settings (skin, dark mode, comfort) are also kept on the device.

Audience measurement (Umami). To know which pages and tools are used, the app uses Umami, a free and open-source tool hosted by Simon Victor. It sets no cookies and does not keep your IP address. It counts anonymous data: page viewed, referring site, country, browser and device type, language, and action names (for example "letter copied"). Never the content of your CV, the job ad or your letter.

No cookies. The app uses no cookies, no ad trackers and no Google or social media services. Fonts are hosted with the app.

Your rights (GDPR). You can ask to access or delete your data by writing to simonvictor61@gmail.com, and complain to your data protection authority if needed. In practice, nothing that identifies you is kept on our side: what exists is on your device, and you can erase it yourself.

Limits

The score, tips and letter are aids: always read them through before sending. The app never makes things up in your CV, but it can get things wrong when reading a badly laid-out ad or CV.

The take-home pay calculation is an estimate based on standard rates: your payslip is what counts. It is not legal or tax advice.

The scam warnings in "The ad at a glance" are clues, not certainties: if in doubt, look up the company and its address before replying.

Accessibility

The "Aa" menu offers bigger text, high contrast, dark mode and less motion. The result can be read aloud by the browser. Statuses (it fits, needs proof, not in your CV) are written out in words, not only shown in colour. A problem? Write to simonvictor61@gmail.com.

Ownership and licences

The app's text, design and code belong to Simon Victor. It uses free components, hosted with it: the Archivo and Figtree fonts (SIL Open Font Licence), pdf.js to read PDFs and tesseract.js to read photos (Apache 2.0 licence).
